This past weekend the Webbs Mills Vol. Fire Department has been very busy. It started off Friday morning when tanker 1861 was dispatched mutual aid to Millerton for a structure fire. 1861 responded with a crew of three and chief 1801 also responded. First reports on scene were that the chimney had about 5 foot flames coming from it. Crews from Webbs Mills, Big Elm, and Millerton worked to extinguish the fire and clean the chimney so it would not catch fire again. The crews were on scene for bout an hour before clearing.
On Saturday two full crews did a pool fill for the whole day. Luckily the Junior firefighters were able to help out some by refreshing the firefighters who were working hard. They also learned about the importance of fill sites and engine company operations. 1861 delivered three loads of water and 1831 did about six in that day. Crews finished at 1700 hrs and the homeowner gave the department a donation for our work.
Sunday started off the usual but at 1700 hrs Webbs Mills crews were dispatched for a tanker and manpower to the scene of a structure fire in Dagget. 1861 responded after the dispatch was complete and 1831 w/ 6 responded just after 1861. 1801 arrived on scene and by the orders of Millerton's chief was told we could return to qaurters. Before we cleared our Tanker was then dispatched to stand-by at South Creek's Station who were also out on a structure fire. The fire they were out on was completely different from the initial one we were dispatched to. All units secured and returned at 2100hrs
