WMFD M/A Caton for Structure Fire

Caton, N.Y. — A Caton woman was left homeless when her Buckwheat Hollow Road home was destroyed by fire Monday morning.

Melissa Raymond was not home when the fire started. The blaze was reported by a neighbor around 9:20 a.m.

Ten fire departments responded to the scene and found the single-story house, located a 524 Buckwheat Hollow Road, engulfed in flames.

Fire investigators were on the scene Monday afternoon searching for a cause of the blaze, which started near the chimney.

Investigators said there were no injuries.

The Caton, Gibson, North Corning, South Corning, Webb Mills, Golden Glow, Pine City, Lawrenceville, Daggett and Big Elm fire departments responded to the blaze.
